EdukaKids Reception Plus Classes, Proudly Present: Ancient Archaeological Artifacts

Project”. But….what is it about? Why are the children so excited about it?

We have been teaching our children about ancient traditions, a topic that has fascinated them since they belong to an era of technology. We took them to the Sadberk Hanım Museum where, with great pleasure, they got exposed to artifacts like bowls, plates, statues, oil lamps, jewelry and even toys used many centuries ago by other civilizations! On our second visit, they chose the artifact they liked the most and during the art lessons they started making its replica! Every single detail like size, material, color, etc was taken into consideration, to obtain a perfect match.

The Sadberk Hanım Museum kindly cooperates with us to exhibit our children’s reproductions next to the original artifact. This is really a once in a life time opportunity! At such a young age, EdukaKids students will exhibit their master pieces like real artists.

Sadberk Hanım Museum opened on the 14th of October, 1980 as Turkey’s first private museum, established by the Vehbi Koç Foundation. Today the museum holds over 18,000 items in its Turkish Islamic and archaeological collections.

The museum gives priority to collecting outstanding examples of Ottoman period works. As well as archaeological and early Islamic period items, Sadberk Hanım Museum gathers the finest examples of works of art ranging from calligraphy to silk fabrics produced over the six centuries of the Ottoman Empire. Preserving these as a cultural legacy for future generations is one of the museum’s principal objectives.
